Sibiu 👁️

The city with eyes on the roofs — sassy, coquette and full of stories.

Sibiu looks at you. On its own: the eye-shaped windows on the roofs in the center, the “Eyes of Sibiu”, guard the markets for centuries and have become the symbol of the city. It is a well-preserved Saxon city, former European Cultural Capital, with three markets linked to each other and a historical center divided into the Upper City and the Lower City.

You walk from the Grand Square to the Small Square, cross the Bridge of Lies — the first casting bridge in Romania, which is said to scratch when someone lies — and climb the Council Tower for a panoramic view of the red roofs.

And around it, treasures: the Astra Museum, one of the largest outdoor museums in Europe, the villages of Sibiu’s periphery and, towards the mountains, Transfăgăreşan — one of the most beautiful roads in the world.
