The center is a layering of eras: Unirii Square with St. Michael's Church in the middle, the equestrian statue of Matthias Corvinus in front, then narrow streets with Baroque and Secession buildings leading to Museum Square, the city's most bohemian corner.
And beyond the city, nature is at hand: Cetățuia for panoramic views, Hoia Forest for walks, and half an hour away you have Salina Turda and Turda Gorge. You come for the urban vibe and leave with half a mountain trip already done.
