Timișoara is a city with three stunning interconnected squares and a Central European vibe you can feel at every step. A former Habsburg fortress, it boasts colorful baroque facades, a navigable canal, and the nickname "city of flowers" — well deserved in spring.
It's the city that sparked the 1989 Revolution, the "first free city of communism," and in 2023 it was a European Capital of Culture. You can see it in the city's energy: restored squares, new museums, bustling terraces, and a center made for strolling.
Victory Square, with the Opera at one end and the Metropolitan Cathedral at the other, is the city's stage. A few steps away, Union Square, the oldest and most baroque, and Liberty Square complete a triangle you can easily walk.
